2016 Western American Tour.
From June 24 to July 8, 2016, ETERNA and the Milwaukee Youth Chorale will travel throughout the Western American states of Missouri, Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, Arizona and California performing concerts and enjoying educational enrichment activities.
2016 Green Bay Tour
On May 14 and 15, 2016, both the Boychoir and Girlchoirs traveled to Green Bay, WI for singing and social engagements with the Green Bay Boychoir and Girlchoir.
2016 Wisconsin Tour
From March 30 to April 3, 2016, the Resident Choirs will travel on a concert tour throughout the State of Wisconsin. The tour will be filled with educational enrichment activities between concerts.
2015 American Homeland: A Veterans Day Concert Tour
The weekend of November 13-15, the Voices of ETERNA took their talents on the road to present American Homeland: A Veterans Day Concert for the active duty and veteran military personnel at the VA Hospital in Milwaukee, followed by a performance at Ft. McCoy which was a collaboration with the USO and the Department of Defense Office of Family, Morale, Welfare, and Recreation. The choir ended its tour in Illinois where it gave concerts at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Rockford and at First Presbyterian Church in Arlington Heights. 2015 Queen City Children's Choir Festival Tour
In June 2015, both Resident Choirs traveled to Ohio for The Queen City Festival, a national treble-voice festival hosted by the Cincinnati Children's Choir, Ensemble-in-Residence at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. A noncompetitive festival, choirs performed combined repertoire under the direction of Founder and Artistic Director of the Cincinnati Children's Choir, Robyn Lana, and shared their own repertoire in the Gala Concert held in CCM's beautiful Corbett Auditorium. Guest Artist, Jim Papoulis, led the festival choir through the process of song-writing culminating with a performance of their work in the Gala Concert. Resident Choir members also had the opportunity to experience some of Cincinnati's finest entertainment, from a day trip and performance at Kings Island Amusement Park to breakfast with sea life at the Newport Aquarium.
2015 Chicago Tour
In May 2015, both the Boychoir and Girlchoirs traveled throughout the Chicago area to share their talents with others while celebrating the fulfillment of their year in Milwaukee Children's Choir. On this tour, the children traveled back in time to experience "history coming back to life" at Medieval Times, performed with the world renowned Chicago Children's Choir, and enjoyed a great day at Navy Pier!
2015 Peoria, IL Mini Tour
In April 2015, after a day-long tour performing at Milwaukee area schools, Concert Choir traveled to Rockford, IL for a dinner and clinic with Kantorei of the Singing Boys of Rockford. Day 2 involved travel to Peoria, IL to participate in a joint concert with the Peoria Area Civic Chorale Youth Chorus.
2014 Minneapolis Mini Tour
In November of 2014, Concert Choir traveled to the Twin City area to collaborate and participate in a workshop with the University of Minnesota Choirs. They also visited the Mall of American and performed at a local church.
2014 East Coast Tour
In June 2014, Concert Choir and Milwaukee Youth Chorale traveled throughout Indiana, Ohio, New York City, New Jersey, and Washington, D.C., performing concerts along the way. Concert Choir rehearsed and performed with the Fort Wayne Children’s Choir, enjoyed a tug boat ride around the island of Manhattan, saw a Broadway show, toured the American Boychoir and enjoyed a workshop with Fernando Malvar-Ruiz, Music Director of the American Boychoir, spent the day at the Smithsonian, and performed at Carnegie Hall for the American Musical Performance National Choirs Concert.
2014 Madison and Wisconsin Dells Tour
In May of 2014, members of Milwaukee Children's Choir's Boychoir and Girlchoir traveled to Madison and Wisconsin Dells, WI. While in Madison, they had a wonderful opportunity to collaborate and make music with the children of the Madison Youth Choirs and visit, sing, and tour the Wisconsin State Capitol Building! The children then traveled to the Wilderness Territory Resort in Wisconsin Dells to enjoy a great weekend of fun and entertainment!
2013 Appleseed Children's Choir Festival
In May of 2013, members of MIlwaukee Children's Choir's Cantabile Choir traveled to Fort Wayne, Indiana to be a part of the 1st annual Appleseed Children's Choir Festival hosted by the Fort Wayne Children's Choir. Special guest clinician and Assistant Artistic Director of the Indianapolis Children's Choir, Mr. Josh Pedde, lead the festival choirs in rehearsals and a performance on Sunday, May 5, 2013. When the choristers were not singing, they had plenty of fun visiting the Fort Wayne Zoo (one of the top 10 in the country!), enjoyed a movie night, and made new friends from the Rockford Boychoirs, the Grand Rapids Children's Choir and the Fort Wayne Children's Choir.
2007 Rhapsody International Children' Music Festival
Prague, Vienna and Salzburg. Milwaukee Children's Choir took a 12-day trip to Vienna, Salzburg and Prague and performances with the Rhapsody International Children's Music Festival under the direction of Joan Gregoryk. Other groups participating in the festival included the Hong Kong Children's Choir, Red Rose Children's Choir from Lake County Illinois, and Le Vocalise from Singapore. Performances were given at
St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna, St. Vitus Cathedral in Prague, Smetana Hall in Prague and several other venues. Repertoire included the St. Leopold Mass by Johann Michael Haydn and music of Mozart, Bernstein, Dvorak and Smetana. The Prague Children's Chorus joined the festival choir on the Czech language works. The singers also enjoyed a workshop with Gerald Wirth, director of the famed Vienna Boys Choir. What did our kids think of this experience? "It was cool to visit other places in the world and to sing in different cathedrals and concert halls. Singing in one voice with other children from around the world (Hong Kong, Singapore, Czech Republic) was very amazing." — 14 year old male singer. "The trip was amazing—one I'll never forget." —14 year old female singer. "This trip was one of the most incredible experiences of my life. Visiting the sites where Mozart, Strauss, Haydn, Smetana, Dvorak and other genius musicians once strode was a profound and life-changing event; it was like visiting the home of music itself." — 15 year old female singer.
2007 Toronto International Choral Festival
In the spring of 2007, members of Milwaukee Youth Chorale traveled to Ontario, Canada, where they performed at the Toronto International Choral Festival. Choirs from around the globe competed in the festival at York University. The Milwaukee Youth Chorale visited the Canadian side of Niagara Falls, visited the Ontario Science Center, and toured the 1911 Casa Loma, a 98 room elegant castle.
2005 New York City
Members of Milwaukee Children's Choir's Cantorei, Milwaukee Youth Chorale and Concert Choir traveled to sing Mark Brymer's The Christmas Suite, which was composed for the Milwaukee Children's Choir in 2003. Milwaukee Children's Choir was joined by choirs from across the country as well as the New England Symphonic Ensemble for the performance at Carnegie Hall. Milwaukee Children's Choir founder, Emily Crocker, conducted. The choirs stayed in Time Square and toured across the city. Singers and their families were able to see Ground Zero, go to the top of the Empire State Building, be on Good Morning America, have an open bus tour of the city, see a Broadway show, and so much more.
2005 Ames, Iowa
Midwest Children's Choir Festival. MCC's Cantorei was the featured Guest Choir at this bi-annual choir festival involving hundreds of Iowa's children. MCC's Cantorei performed a series of opera choruses, receiving a standing ovation from a wildly enthusiastic audience.
Mass at St. Peter's Basilica, Rome. Following a request by St. Peter's Basilica for MCC to perform at Mass, Cantorei Choir and Milwaukee Youth Chorale traveled to Italy and spent time in both Rome and Sorrento. While in Rome, the combined choir sang during Mass at St. Peter's Basilica, performed an Evensong at All Saints Church, performed during Mass at Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore, and performed at St. Paul's Within the Walls. Emily Crocker (Cantorei) and Dr. Christopher Peterson (Youth Chorale) conducted all concerts. Repertoire featured religious and inspirational works by Praetorius, Mozart, Durufle, Vaughan Williams andRutter. African-American Spirituals and African folksongs were also included at several venues, as were works from modern American composers Hogan, Crocker, Eilers, and Hierholzer.
Fifth Annual International Children's Choir Festival, Canterbury and London. The tour was presented as part of the
1,400th anniversary celebration ofSt. Augustine's bringing Christianity to Britain. Members of Milwaukee Children's Choir's Cantorei were housed at King's School (Canterbury) and Imperial College (London). Cantorei performed separately and as part of a Festival Choir. Evensong and Evening Concerts were held at Canterbury Cathedral, Canterbury, England and Westminster Central Hall, London, England. The Festival Choir was composed of the Milwaukee Children's Choir, the Austin Children's Choir (Austin, TX), the Blair Children's Chorus (Nashville, TN), the St. John the Divine Children's Choir (Houston, TX), and the Children's Choir of Waukesha (Waukesha, WI). Festival guest conductors included David Flood, Master of the Choristers at Canterbury Cathedral and Henry Leck, Artistic Director of the Indianapolis Children's Choir. The Choir was accompanied by the Virtuosi of London Orchestra (Westminster) and Philip Stopford, Assistant Organist of Chester Cathedral (Canterbury). Repertoire featured works by English composers Parry, Purcell, Rutter, and Willcocks, as well as a Crocker arrangement of "When in Our Music God is Glorified."
Wisconsin Cultural Delegation Trip to Chiba to participate in the Chiba People's Day Festival: A cultural delegation of almost 40 Wisconsinites visited Wisconsin's sister state Chiba, Japan. The
trip was part of a series of cultural exchanges facilitated by Wisconsin-Chiba Inc. and the Chiba Prefecture Planning Department's Cultural and International Affairs Division. The Wisconsin delegation included members of the Milwaukee Children's Choir and outstanding traditional and ethnic artists from Wisconsin's Folklife Festival. The goal of Wisconsin-Chiba Inc. was to promote and facilitate educational, cultural, scientific, and technological exchanges to create awareness, understanding and friendship among the people of Chiba Prefecture and the State of Wisconsin. The final performance was held at the Matsuri noHiroba and was conducted by Emily Crocker, MCC Artistic Director. Repertoire was selected primarily from musical classics by Berlin, Rogers and Hammerstein, and Lloyd Webber, as well as modern Disney musicals, including a Crocker arrangement of "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" from The Lion King. Other participants included The Chiba Prefecture Youth Orchestra and the KotoriYouth Choir.
