Thanks for your interest in joining the Milwaukee Children’s Choir! We would love to welcome you and your chorister to the MCC family!
2024-2025 Season Information
We are currently scheduling auditions for new choristers for our 2024-25 season. Only singers entering grades 3-12 need to audition. No audition is required for Music Explorers class or Introductory Choir. There are several ways for your voice to be heard!
1. In Person
We will hear potential new members on 6 different Wednesdays and Thursdays during the summer months of May, June and August. Each chorister will register for a 15 minute time slot. These vocal assessments allow our staff to determine the best ensemble placement for each chorister. You can review our MCC ensembles and suggested grade levels by visiting our website. In person auditions will be held at our MCC offices, 427 E. Stewart St in Milwaukee. If interested in Audition, please fill out the Express Interest Form below and an audition sign up link will be sent to you via email.
2. Via Zoom
Zoom sessions can also be scheduled in place of in-person auditions. If interested in a zoom audition, please fill out the Express Interest Form below and let us know you would like a zoom audition by emailing membership@milwaukeechildrenschoir.org.
3. Via Video Submission
We will also accept video submissions in lieu of an in-person or Zoom auditions for grades 3rd-5th. Please click here to view a document outlining the details of how to submit a video audition.
Placement Audition Process
Auditions vary slightly based on grade level and most do not require advanced preparation.
(If you have a song that you have prepared and would like to sing it, you may.)
1. Sing simple vocal warm-ups
2. Sing Happy Birthday with no accompaniment
3. Listening skills (singing back pitches played)
4. For older singers- Music fundamental theory questions
Purpose of Placement Auditions
– Allows choir directors to understand where each chorister is in regards to musical knowledge and performance
– Provides an opportunity for professional individual feedback
– Auditions are NOT intended to create an exclusive perception or club culture
– Prepares chorister for additional singing opportunities through MCC and school choirs that will require an audition
