On behalf of the Board of Directors, I am thrilled to vocalize our pleasure with the positive progress the MCC made during the 2021-2022 season.
While we continue to manage the risks associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, we have successfully kept our choristers, families, and staff safe through appropriate distancing and diligent mask usage in rehearsals and performances. Managing the ongoing risks from COVID has been an ongoing challenge over the past two years, and with the continued efforts of staff, these precautions have been maintained. As we’ve said before, our #1 priority at the MCC is the safety of our singers.
As the Board President and a 6-year choir parent, I’ve seen my fair share of MCC performances. However, our most recent concert Force For Good was one of the most moving I’ve experienced. The choristers and staff have put in so much hard work, and more often than not, in less-than-ideal conditions (have any of you ever sang while wearing a KN-19 mask?). Through it all, the choristers have shown tremendous growth both as individual singers and choirs. And I continue to be in awe of how much our directors and staff genuinely care about the development and welfare of our choir members – I believe this a great differentiator for the MCC!
In terms of growth, our singer membership has increased by 250% from last season, and we are continuing to recruit and grow for the upcoming season. That said, if you have a child who likes to sing or know anyone who might be interested in learning about the MCC, please visit or share the MCC website. You can also complete an interest form. For youth looking for summer opportunities, learn more about one of our free MCC Day Camps.
Finally, as we move into summer and prepare for the 2022-2023 season, we are making efforts to increase the strength and effectiveness of the Board of Directors. Our current priority includes finding the right candidates who have a desire to support Milwaukee youth in the performing arts, while driving serious fundraising efforts on behalf of the MCC. If you want to learn more about becoming a member of the Board of Directors, or to volunteer for one of our various committees, email membership@milwaukeechildrenschoir.org. We’d love your help!
A BIG thank you to our staff, volunteers, Board members, and you, our community, for another successful season! Every accomplishment is because we worked together.
Warm regards,
Joe Ciancaglini
Board President
